Subjects at barnfields

Your child will study a wide range of exciting and simulating subjects during their time at Barnfields Primary School to enable them to develop the knowledge and skills they need for life and work beyond. Knowing about the curriculum can help parents support their child's learning.

The school is made up of three key stages:

  • Reception classes are known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Year 1 and Year 2 are known as Key Stage 1
  • Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 are known as Key Stage 2

The curriculum, introduced in 2021 for the Early Years Foundation Stage covers the following areas:

For Key Stages 1 and 2 children, we follow the statutory guidance from the Primary National Curriculum 2014. In the document are key areas of learning across all subjects: English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, PE, Computing, Art, Design and Technology, Music, RE and MFL.
