Early Years Foundation Stage

Barnfields Primary School

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage at Barnfields

Our Early Years Foundation Stage is made up of two Reception classes each with a Teacher and a full-time Teaching Assistant. Children learn through a balance of adult directed teaching through whole class carpet sessions and small group tasks, and independent learning whilst accessing our carefully designed provision opportunities.

Our Environment

Our inspiring outdoor environment has recently been refurbished to create a beautiful outdoor learning space where children can discover, explore and develop across all areas of learning. Children learn in a free-flowing environment, having access to this space throughout the day.

Our indoor space consists of two classrooms and also a newly refurbished Creative room. Our classrooms are joined by bi-folding doors which can be opened to allow children to access a huge variety of learning opportunities and resources across both classrooms.

Our specially designed Creative room provides children with the perfect space to explore, create and express themselves. Children are taught to independently and safely access painting and craft materials using the knowledge and skills taught through our Expressive Art and Design curriculum.
